What are some of the blessings of Allah that we should treasure?

Answered by: Sheikh Zafar ul Hasan

Hadith:

Prophet of Allah ﷺ said:

There are two blessings that most people do not treasure.

  •  Health   الصحة
  • Free-time  والفراغ

The scholars say that after Islam (faith), the greatest blessings are Health and Free-time.

To show your gratitude towards Allah, the best way is being completely obedient towards Allah and avoiding His disobedience.

If Allah Has bestowed this Ramadan upon us along with these two blessings, then the right way to show our gratitude is that we should perform all kinds of good deeds, whether they come under verbal, physical or financial ibadah, and do them as much as we can.

An Arabic poet once said:

No matter how healthy you are, there is one ailment you cannot avoid; "old-age"

It is best that we spend our time in seeking goodness and expressing our gratitude towards Allah, as much as we can, before we reach old-age, when we wouldn't be able to do as much as we wish for.

Things to Remember:

  • Regarding Youth as an Asset Before Old age:

Hadith:

Prophet of Allah ﷺ said:

Allah Loves the young person who has a passion for good deeds and is not inclined towards sin.

Hadith:

Prophet of Allah ﷺ said:

There are seven fortunate individuals who shall be protected under the shade of Arsh (Throne) of Allah, on the Day of Judgment, when there shall be no other shade. One of these individuals would  be a young person who worshipped Allah in his youth.

  • Regarding Health as an Asset Before Sickness
  • Regarding Free-time/ Rest as an Asset Before Being Occupied/ Tied up
  • Regarding Prosperity as an Asset Before Poverty

Hadith:

Prophet of Allah ﷺ said:

Verily, the world has four kinds of people. There is one whom Allah has granted wealth, knowledge  and Taqwa. So, he acts on it and uses his wealth in the way/ cause of Allah. Prophet of Allah ﷺ said:

Such a person would be amongst the best of mankind.
